LIO | Healthcare Product Explainer
Role: Writer, Producer, Motion and Sound Design.
LIO asked me to develop an explainer video outlining the benefits of their patient monitoring platform for mental health hospitals.
Involving patients and carers with lived experience throughout production was central to the project. Their input helped shape the script, character designs and wider creative direction.
The video was originally created under the Oxehealth brand. I was later commissioned to update it to reflect the new LIO branding. The process documents below show the planning and development of the original video.

process
The script, storyboards and animatics were developed in close collaboration with the LIO team and their patient and carer experts.
Alicia, the illustrator, designed characters that I could break apart and pose to build the storyboards, adding rough sketches for other details where needed. Through an iterative process, we identified additional illustrations and refined the designs ready for animation.
I edited storyboard stills into animatics to explore how the visuals and script worked together. These were reviewed by the client and their patient and carer experts, then refined in response to their feedback.
Character designs were separated into layers, ready for rigging and animation.
Characters rigged using Joysticks and Sliders and Duik.
2D assets placed in 3D space, for a parallax effect and to make use of After Effects’ lights.
