Game Trailers

As a long time fan of classic point-and-click adventure games like the Monkey Island series, I’ve loved the opportunity to create trailers for several titles in the genre. Below is a selection of this work…

Lucy Dreaming | Kickstarter and Release Trailers

Role: Edit and Motion and Sound Design

“Meet Lucy, a young girl with a recurring nightmare. Can you unlock the secrets to dream control and discover the disturbing truth behind Lucy's dreams?”

Lucy Dreaming was the first game I was asked to create a trailer for. The Kickstarter trailer formed part of the campaign that successfully funded the game. A second trailer was produced later for its official release.

Foolish Mortals | Game Teaser

Role: Edit, Motion and Sound Design

"Obsessed with finding the lost treasure of Bellemore Manor, Murphy McCallan encounters ghosts, voodoo, and an evil phantom who wants the treasure as their own! Eccentric characters and exciting puzzles populate the mysterious island of Devil’s Rock in this classic style point & click adventure."

I worked on this trailer as part of another Kickstarter campaign. Inspired by classics like Broken Sword and Monkey Island, the game’s campaign was a huge success—and it's set to launch in 2025.

Plot of the Druid | Game Trailer

Role: Script development, Edit, Motion and Sound Design

“The adventures of a disgraced former druid apprentice who is pulled into a perilous quest to regain his honour and save the world from a terrifying imbalance of nature”

This trailer was created as part of a 2021 Kickstarter campaign to help fund Plot of the Druid. As a proof of concept, I animated several scenes for the trailer, and have since contributed to various in-game animations as well. Read on to see some of that work.

Heir of the Dog | Game Teaser

Role: Edit and Motion and Sound Design

“From the creators of Lucy Dreaming comes Heir of the Dog, a hilariously British pixel-art point & click adventure set in dark, Victorian London.”

After the success of Lucy Dreaming, Tall Story Games is developing another adventure—this time with a hairy twist. This trailer was featured in the game's hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, which was funded several times over its initial goal. It’s shaping up to be another classic, set for release in 2025.

For the first Lucy Dreaming trailer, I used in-game artwork to recreate the game's opening scene in an over-the-top, cheesy cinematic style—complete with 3D text to play into the joke.

For the Foolish Mortals trailer, I was given some of the game's artwork to create short vignettes that break up the gameplay footage and hint at the story.

For this caption in the Heir of the Dog trailer, I animated the text to morph into something hairy—mirroring the main character's transformation when the game's Jekyll-and-Hyde-style mechanic is revealed.

One of my favourite things about working on game trailers is the opportunity to use each game's key art to create an animated end slate.

Alongside game trailers, I’ve also created animated assets for some developers' Kickstarter campaigns. A couple of examples...

Plot of the Druid | Game Animations

Role: Additional Animation and Sound Design

For Plot of the Druid, I was brought on to animate scenes and edit the game trailer, and have since contributed animations for the game itself. Here are a few examples of my work, along with some behind-the-scenes insights.

Much of my contribution has focused on smaller environmental animations—like background creatures or the clock bell animation shown below.

I rigged and animated this cheeky monkey, and added environmental effects to the cutscene. The artwork and frame-by-frame animation were created by Michel Fortin.
